Terms of Service

Last updated: 30 June 2026

These Terms govern your use of Canvas. Please read them alongside the Privacy Policy.

1. Who runs this site

Canvas (the “Site”) is a personal project operated by Ioan Biticu (“I”, “me”). It is a browser tool for composing images: load an Unsplash photo, crop and zoom it, lay styled text on top, and optionally save and share the result. It is not a commercial product and is offered free of charge. You can reach me at ioanb7code@gmail.com.

2. Acceptance

By using the Site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

3. What the Site does

The Site lets you:

  • load a photo from Unsplash by pasting its page URL or photo ID;
  • crop, zoom, pan, and add styled text layers to compose an image;
  • render the composition to a PNG you can download;
  • optionally save a composition, which submits it for moderation and, once approved, publishes it at a shareable URL.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • probe the security of the Site, or attempt to extract credentials, API keys, or internal configuration;
  • use automated means to flood, scrape, or overload the service, or try to bypass the request limits described below;
  • submit unlawful, abusive, infringing, or harmful content — including in the text you compose, the author name, or the categories you enter;
  • submit content you do not have the right to publish, or impersonate someone else.

Abusive sessions may be refused or rate-limited automatically.

5. Unsplash photos

Photos are provided by Unsplash and remain the property of their photographers. They are made available under the Unsplash License, and your use of any image you compose or download is subject to that license. Unsplash+ premium photos are not supported. Attribution to the photographer is baked into the rendered image and shown in the editor — please keep it intact.

6. Saved and published content

When you save a composition, you submit it for publication on the Site. Saved posts are moderated: I may approve, hide, decline, or remove any submission at my discretion, and I am under no obligation to publish anything. By submitting, you confirm you have the right to publish the content and you grant me permission to store and display it on the Site.

7. Usage limits

To keep the Site available and to control cost, requests are rate-limited per IP address. If a limit is reached, requests are refused until the window resets. These limits may change at any time without notice.

8. Intellectual property

The text you compose is yours; the photos belong to their photographers under the Unsplash License. The Site’s own design and source code are mine and are provided for personal, non-commercial use. See the Privacy Policy for what data goes where.

9. No warranty

The Site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. I do not guarantee that it will be accurate, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, and I may change, suspend, or discontinue any feature at any time.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the Site. You are responsible for ensuring your use of any image you create complies with the Unsplash License and applicable law.

11. Changes to these Terms

I may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the current version; continued use after a change means you accept the revised Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Nothing here limits any rights you have under mandatory consumer or data-protection law in your place of residence.
